Nana Ayebiafo Jnana, the Nkosuohene (development chief) of Dumasua in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, has been making waves on social media in recent weeks.
His seven-year developmental plan for Dumasua has captured widespread attention and admiration.
In a recently viral video, Nana Ayebiafo detailed his comprehensive strategy for uplifting Dumasua, highlighting both immediate and long-term goals. His vision has been lauded by many social commentators who view it as highly commendable.
Nana Ayebiafo, who recently, together with the traditional authorities, funded the construction of a new police station in the community, revealed his personal commitment to Dumasua’s development.
He explained that he does not own a home in the town and spends less than two weeks annually in Dumasua. He believes the money he could have spent on a personal residence is instead being invested in the community’s growth.
“We were four chiefs who were installed. Our chief has really tried his best to support Dumasua with his personal funds.
“So, we also want to support and help Dumasua develop. We have something called the Seven Years Development Plan of Dumasua, which we launched on January 7, 2024.
“It includes, for the first year, cleaning the community and ensuring proper sanitation by planting trees. For the first year, we formed a club to support this project, and the number is nearing 350.
“In 2024, the second year is focused on infrastructure development. We have built a police station, a durbar ground, and we are about to build an ICT center and an e-library. We are also planning to build a special astroturf,” he said.
Find the breakdown of the chief’s development plan below:
Year 1: Community Clean-Up and Sanitation
Ten tricycles have been purchased to aid in community cleaning.
Eleven individuals have been employed to manage sanitation efforts, each earning 1,000 GHC.
Year 2: Infrastructure Development
A police station has been built, and plans are underway for a durbar ground, ICT center, e-library, and an astroturf. Additionally, 16 cameras have been provided to enhance crime monitoring.
Year 3: Industrialization
Dumasua will see the establishment of a cashew factory, as well as a gari processing factory and fish farming initiatives. The choice of a cashew factory aligns with the local abundance of cashews.
Year 4: Agricultural Development
The focus will shift to various forms of agriculture including fish farming (catfish), snail farming, mushroom farming, and cassava cultivation.
Year 5: Vocational Education
New educational facilities will be opened to provide vocational training for those seeking to learn new skills.
Year 6: Age Care Policy
An association will be formed to offer health insurance and provide wheelchairs for elderly residents who have mobility challenges.
Year 7: Sustainability and Project Review
The final year will focus on evaluating and ensuring the sustainability of all previous projects.
Nana Ayebiafo credited Nana Amponsah, the chief of Dumasua, for supporting the development efforts.
