Former Minister of Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea is convinced the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind the widely-circulated ‘Agyapadie’ document.
According to him, the document is designed to manipulate public perception and undermine the achievements of the NPP government.
Speaking ahead of the party’s manifesto launch in Takoradi, the Member of Parliament of Akim Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. Atta Akyea described the document as a piece of nonsense that should be disregarded.
“It is extremely infantile to assume that a thief will document his modus operandi and the step on paper. So I am tempted to believe that probably it is the NDC that has forged this document because no sane person will say that ‘oh let’s write the document for our own self disgrace’.
“It is a piece of nonsense that we shouldn’t pay attention to,” he stressed.
With less than four months to the general elections, the 38-page document, which lacks an identified author, and prominently features the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin on the cover, with President Nana Akufo-Addo and his late father on the subsequent page, has gone viral on all social media platforms.
It is believed to contain strategies on how a particular ‘family’ or ‘clan’ will establish total dominance and ensure the running of the country by taking control of the various sectors including economy, politics, media, judiciary, telecommunication and banking.
Although the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and President Akufo-Addo have both come out to dismiss the content as pure fiction fabricated by those who have long sought to incite hatred against the Ofori Panin household and Okyeman, many are still not convinced.
In numerous interviews, member of the NDC have explained that the Agyapadie document is a blueprint for state capture by the incumbent government.
But the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) disagrees. They are alleging that it was orchestrated by the opposition to manipulate public perception so as to win power on December 7.
