LET’S JOIN THE FIGHT TO STOP GALAMSEY NOW – DJA TO GHANAIANS.

The Executive and Members of Developmental Journalists Association, a non profitable Media Group in Ghana is warning that, if pragmatic steps are not taken to halt the illegal mining in Ghana, the country would be plunged into serious water problems which could never be reversible.

Development Journalist Association believes that, the time is riped to step up efforts to stop galamsey operations in the country to avoid future catastrophy.

The government’s inability to effectively combat galamsey is troubling as we witness the devastation of our rivers, farms, and forests, all vital to many Ghanaians’ means of livelihood.

More effective strategies are desperately needed, as the current measures are insufficient.

We, as an association are calling on the Security Agencies in the country to join the crusade in halting illegal mining operation because, there are speculation from the public that they are part of government’s failure in fighting the spread of galamsey which they need to prove their innocence.

We also call on the Media to step up reportage on this wicked operations by exposing the perpetrators without favouring anyone being a politician, traditional leader or whoever.

We urge that, we all arise as Ghanaian citizens and not spectators to fight hard in order to bring this wicked operations to an end.

We urge government and opinion leaders to as a matter of emergency take a critical look at the galamsey menace as properties, lands and natural resources are being destroyed as well as the loss of humans lives.

We, Developmental Journalists Association (DJA), is committed in supporting any effort to halt galamsey operations whilst we also call on the government to create more employment opportunities for our teeming unemployed youth in Ghana.

We sought development partners and international organizations to assist Ghana in its fight against illicit mining.

Let’s arise as Ghanaian citizens for the nation demands our devotion, we are all involved.
Thank you.

Long Live Ghana!
