On the 9th of September 2024, the Atwima Mponua District witnessed a significant milestone in its
development efforts with the official unveiling of seven earth-moving equipment under the District
Road Improvement Project (DRIP). This event, celebrated in a charged and colourful atmosphere, brought together traditional authorities, political leaders, party supporters, and community stakeholders, all eager to partake in a historic moment for the district.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished traditional leaders from the district, who dressed colourfully to symbolize the importance of the occasion.

 

 

Nana Oti Boadua II, the Akwamuhene of the Nyinahin Traditional Council, chaired the event, underscoring the strong ties between the community and the government. Other notable dignitaries included Hon. Kwabena Nsenkyire, Regional Chairperson of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Mr. Bismark Obuobi, representing Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah (Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua), NPP Constituency Executives and the NPP Parliamentary candidate, Mr. Seth Osei-Akoto.

 

 

In his address, Hon. Kwabena Nsenkyire, Regional Chairperson of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP expressed profound gratitude to the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government for its foresight in launching the DRIP initiative to address the challenges posed by the district’s difficult and tortuous road network. He emphasized the significance of the seven earth-moving equipment, which will help improve road connectivity across the district’s more than 500 communities.

 

 

Hon. Nsenkyire also issued a cautionary note to the district authorities, reminding them that the
equipment should only be used for their intended purpose,as directed by the DRIP Chairman, Hon.
Collins Ntim. He further disclosed that the government had procured additional spare parts and
logistics that would last for two years, with provisions for fuel to keep the machines operational.

The Constituency Chairman, Hon. Collins Addai praised the government’s continued commitment
to the development of Atwima Mponua. He highlighted various flagship projects in the district, including schools, hospitals, the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative, and the construction of
a stadium.

He lauded the achievements of the NPP government and urged party members to remain focused and united to “break the eight” in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Bismark Obuobi, speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, commended the government for its sterling performance in the constituency. He praised Hon. Asiamah’s contribution to the district, describing his legacy as an indelible mark in Mponua’s
governance system. He noted that Mr. Seth Osei-Akoto, a retired public servant, was the best
candidate to continue the MP’s work. He called for unity and hard work to ensure the NPP remains
victorious in the next elections.

 

Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, in his speech, emphasized the importance of unity within the party ranks.

He outlined the numerous interventions his office had initiated in the areas of education, health, and security, which have contributed to the district’s progress. He urged all stakeholders to work together for the greater good of Atwima Mponua.

 

Honourable Seth Osei Akoto, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Atwima Mponua, expressed his
gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community. He assured the gathering that, despite the false propaganda being spread about him, he remained focused on working with stakeholders to uplift the district.

He pledged to collaborate with the DCE, party executives, and Hon. Isaac Kwame
Asiamah to ensure that the machines are used effectively to benefit the entire district. He also called on the operators of the machines to be responsible in the discharge of their duties and requested the traditional authorities to help maintain the equipment when in their areas.

Nana Oti Boadua II, the chairman of the event, expressed his gratitude to the NPP government for
its continuous support for Atwima Mponua. He acknowledged that all visible projects in the district
were the handiwork of the NPP government and urged the community to reward the government at
the polls. He emphasized that the people of Atwima Mponua should support a government that has
consistently met their developmental needs.

The seven earth-moving machines were paraded through the Nyinahin township amidst jubilation
from the local community, passengers, and other onlookers. The excitement and joy expressed by
the indigenes and passing motorists highlighted the importance of the event and the positive impact these machines will have on improving the district’s road infrastructure.

The unveiling of the seven earth-moving equipment marks a new chapter in Atwima Mponua’s
development journey. With the continued support of the government and the collaboration of
community leaders, political actors, and residents, the district is poised for significant improvements in road infrastructure, which will positively impact livelihoods, trade, and overall well-being.
