The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has made a passionate appeal to the National Peace Council, urging its swift intervention in the ongoing crisis regarding unpaid allowance arrears, which has affected trainees since 2021.

Representing thousands of frustrated and disheartened individuals, the coalition has expressed deep concern over the prolonged delays and has issued a stern warning.

They have announced plans for a large-scale demonstration at the forecourt of Jubilee House, set to take place a week before the upcoming elections, should their grievances remain unaddressed.

The coalition hopes the intervention of the National Peace Council will help resolve the issue and prevent any further escalation.

In a formal petition addressed to Members of the National Peace Council, the coalition highlighted the severe impact of the unpaid allowances on their livelihoods and the broader implications for national security and stability.

Despite numerous petitions to the Office of the President and relevant ministries, the issue remains unresolved, prompting the trainees to escalate their actions.

The coalition emphasised the critical role of the Peace Council in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the election period and urged the council to engage with the President to expedite the settlement of the arrears.

They stressed that all avenues have been exhausted and patience is wearing thin, making immediate government action vital to prevent potential unrest.

David Peterson, the organiser of the aggrieved NABCO trainees, along with other key representatives, including Nana Tachie Eric, Deborah Enam Sogbey, and Nana Berimah Asamoah, signed the petition.

They expressed hope that the Peace Council’s intervention would significantly contribute to maintaining national security and ensuring a peaceful election.

The coalition’s call to action underscores the urgency of the situation and the need for prompt resolution to avert any disruptions during this critical period.
