The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a leader of the Democracy Hub protest, after he was captured on video engaging in acts of lawlessness at the 37 Intersection in Accra.
The footage shows Barker-Vormawor taking a key from a police vehicle and throwing it away, while another shows him toppling police barricades, further escalating tensions between protesters and law enforcement.
The protest, which began as a demonstration against economic issues, also took on an anti-galamsey focus, leading to increased tensions with law enforcement.
Several protesters have already been arrested for blocking roads and disrupting traffic, and the police have vowed to arrest Barker-Vormawor and others involved.
Authorities are calling on the public to assist in locating Barker-Vormawor and ensuring all responsible parties are brought to justice.
