The Management of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has announced the indefinite postponement of the reopening date for the 2024/2025 academic year, originally set for September 27, 2024.
This decision is a result of the ongoing industrial action by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union of the Trade Union Congress (TEWU-TUC).
The strike has significantly impacted the delivery of academic services at the university.
The unions have raised concerns over delayed pension contributions, non-payment of vehicle maintenance allowances, and the suspension of certain agreed-upon benefits.
The university has assured students and the general public that they will be updated on any new developments regarding the reopening once the industrial action is resolved.
