The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives of Amenfi Central in the Western Region have advised members and sympathizers to remain calm following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) disqualification of their parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.
On behalf of the constituency executives, Communication Officer Mr. Obed Amissah Anowi engaged the media in a press conference on October 18, 2024, at Kwaku-Buah village near Manso-Amenfi. He disclosed that the executives had foreseen the problem and promptly sought advice from regional and national executives.
He claims that rumors regarding the matter at hand, in which the Electoral Commission dubiously revoked the PC candidacy from the approaching parliamentary campaign on December 7, 2024, were expected to surface beforehand.
He asserts that they immediately sought advice from the national and regional executives, who responded that legal measures had been taken by requesting a court order prohibiting the Electoral Commission from validating or printing Parliamentary ballots for the general elections.
All members are urged by the constituency leadership to steadfastly wait for further notice from higher-ups.
According to Mr. Obed Amissah Anowi, NDC supporters should not be deterred or yield to political intimidation; instead, they should concentrate and put up great effort in order to win, both for Joana Gyan Cudjoe to become the next Member of Parliament for the Amenfi Central seat and for Mahama to become the next President of Ghana.
