Chaos broke out at a local radio station in Asante Akyem Agogo, Salt FM, on Thursday after National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Kofi Asamoah, stormed the premises.
Mr. Asamoah, who is the Asante Akim North PC, was at the station to demand a retraction and apology over an alleged defamatory statement.
The host of the morning show, Anopa Busuo, Samuel Acheampong, alleged that Mr. Asamoah had received financial support and resources from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament to fund his campaign.
The comments sparked concern among NDC supporters, who informed the PC.
After he was unsuccessful in addressing the issue during a call-in segment, Mr. Asamoah stormed the station in the company of some NDC supporters.
An attempt to deny him access into the studio resulted in a fierce confrontation, although no injuries were recorded.
A video shared on X by Accra-based Citi FM captured the moment of the altercation.
The station management has since filed an official complaint with the police.
However, the NDC PC has dismissed allegations that he went to the station with thugs or weapons and has threatened to pursue legal action against Salt FM.
He also accused the station’s owner, who is an independent parliamentary candidate in the constituency, of using the platform to tarnish his image.
