#GhanaDecides: Bawumia Concedes Defeat; Congratulates Mahama

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat in the 2024 general election.

Addressing the nation on Sunday morning, he congratulated the National Democratic Congress(NDC) John Dramani Mahama for winning the race in a landslide victory.

Dr Bawumia acknowledged Mahama and expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for the opportunity to serve as a vice president and presidential candidate.

Dr Bawumia disclosed he had earlier called Mr Mahama to congratulate him.

He further stated that his decision to concede was motivated by a desire to avoid further tensions and ensure peace in the country.

The Electoral Commission(EC) is yet to officially confirm former President Mahama’s victory but results trickling in indicate that he is coasting to a massive victory in the ongoing election.

The election was held amid Ghana’s worst economic crisis in a generation, characterized by extreme inflation and high unemployment rates.
