Amenfi central in the Western Region of Ghana has been through political controversies among some leaderships of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, including the current elected member of parliament-Mrs.Joana Gyan Cudjoe
Many of the people thought the NDC could not have a representative to contest on the ticket of the party in the 2024 public elections. But with determination and perseverance of the NDC and its current member of parliament elect, went through thick and thin and came out victoriousely as a surprised to the world.
The electoral commission officers in the constituency who supervised the 2024 election , one way or the other, delayed the processes, leading to declaration for almost 24 hours (one day).
But successfully on Sunday 8th of December, 2024, a day after the election at about 4:00pm, at the District court which is also assign as the collation center saw Honourable Joana Gyan Cudjoe declared as member of parliament duly elect.
At the end of the result, Hon. Joana Gyan pulled Twenty-six thousand three hundred and fourty five (26,345), as against the former incumbent MP Peter Yaw-Kwakye Arkah, who obtained six hundred and ninety three (693), an independent candidate Dr. Karl Mark Ahin Fifty six (56), and Dr. Albert Wiredu Arkoh, who represents the NPP Party, obtained Twelve thousand and ninety-six (12,096).
