John Dumelo: Ayawaso West Wuogon MP-Elect Hit With Sad News

The Member of Parliament-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has announced the death of his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr, at the age of 75.

In a Facebook post, Dumelo shared the emotional account of his last moments with his father, revealing that their final conversation took place just hours before his passing.

“At age 75, you lived your life well. Yesterday you called me several times that I come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming and business and off course we gossiped,” Dumelo wrote.

The MP-elect recounted how his father gave him advice ahead of his upcoming swearing-in ceremony, saying, “We spoke about my swearing-in in 3 days’ time, and you told me specifically to serve diligently in government.”

Shortly after leaving his father’s home, Dumelo received distressing news. “Ten minutes after I left your house, I was called that you were not being responsive. I came back, we rushed you to the hospital, and you were gone,” he shared.

 

 

 

In a heartfelt tribute, the actor and farmer expressed gratitude to his father for his unwavering support and guidance throughout his life. “Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheerleader and thanks for everything you did for me,” he said.

He concluded the post with a poignant farewell: “Say hi to mum for us all….we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.”

 

 

 

 

Dumelo’s loss comes at an important moment in his political career. Running on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he recently defeated incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by a margin of 2,200 votes. Dumelo garnered 34,800 votes, while Alhassan received 32,600.

As Dumelo prepares for his swearing-in ceremony in three days, he will carry forward his father’s final advice to serve diligently as he begins his tenure as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
