The police have launched a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who escaped with gold and other valuables at Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred at about 8 pm on January 13, 2025.
The search operation follows the lynching of two accomplices of the suspects by irate community members.
The suspects reportedly attacked community mining workers who were returning home from work.
According to the Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, Kofi Mensah, the robbers seized over 30 pounds of gold, pickup truck keys and more than GH¢11,000 in cash from the miners.
“They were on two motorbikes and after the attack, one of their bikes carrying two of them fell, aiding the victims to mob them and judged them instantly”.
Two of the robbers were apprehended and lynched by the residents after an alarm was raised, while the other two managed to escape with the stolen items.
The assembly member added that the incident was reported to the police, who have since deposited the bodies of the deceased at the morgue and launched an investigation into the matter.
