Birim Central NCCE Quiz Competition: Nicson International School Takes Top Honors

To commemorate Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of it’s mandate directed that all Metropolitan,Municipal and District (MMD) offices of the Commission organize quiz competition among four (4) schools in their MMDs. The Birim Central office of the Commission per the directive organized the quiz competition among eight (8) schools in the Municipality.

The purpose of the quiz competition is to promote the learning of the 1992 Constitution and also deepen students understanding of the political history of Ghana.

 

The Birim Central Office of the NCCE held its quiz competition on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025 at the Emmanuel Presby Church, Akim Oda. Participating schools were Hecta International School, Christ Is the Answer (CITA) Preparatory JHS, El-Shaddai JHS, Nicson International School, St. Anthony JHS, Oda Presby Girls JHS, Joduro Integrated School and Frimpong Manso R/C JHS, all in the Akim Oda Municipality.

 

 

 

The programme was graced with the presence of the Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service, Mrs Gloria Aggrey Kilson, who expressed her gratitude to the organizers who intimated the importance of knowing the content of the 1992 Constitution and the need for the NCCE to be resourced and supported to do more. In attendance were also some heads of Units of the Education Directorate, Mr. Victor Tsegah( Human Resource Manager), Mrs Lydia Ansah Frimpong(Planning & Statistics), and Mr. Ransford Anamoah(Culture Coordinator). The quiz master was Mr. Cephas Atido, the Municipal Director for CHRAJ. Teachers and Patrons of various schools were also in attendance.

 

The competition started with the 1992 Constitution Board Game. Schools paired to play with each other, with the other rounds, which included Current Affairs and the problem of the day, with contesting schools made to write a brief on the National Commission for Civic Education. At the end of the contest, Nicson International School emerged as the winner with 70 points.

 

Officers present were Madam Rejoice Biscoff (Municipal Director), Mrs Diana Laryea (CEO), Mr. Joseph Nana Baiden (CEO), Miss Aba Akyeampomaa Thompson (CEO), Mr. Kofi Badu Antwi (CEO), Mr. Samuel Akuamoah Mireku (PFO), Mr. Eric Antwi (PFO), Mr. Agyapong Atta Jnr. (National Service Personnel), Miss Edith Zottor (National Service Personnel).
