The family of victims of the July 20, 2022, shooting incident in Bibiani, Western North Region, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, seeking justice for the death of one person and injuries sustained by others.
The petition, which was also copied to the Attorney-General, Minister of Interior, and National Security, among others, alleged that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Omanhene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, conspired with some chiefs and thugs to shoot at the victims.
According to the petition, Ibrahim Adams died from gunshot wounds, while Kwame Krah, Kingsford Awere, and Frank Yeboah sustained various gunshot wounds and underwent surgeries at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
The family expressed disappointment with the police in the Western North Region, claiming they had refused to investigate the incident properly. They alleged that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II used his position to influence the case unduly.
The family has attached videos and pictures as evidence, including images of Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II distributing guns and bullets to thugs, and pictures of the prime suspect, Isaac Oteng Krah. They demand justice and emphasize that no one is above the law in the Republic of Ghana.

PETITION BY VICTIMS OF THE WEDNESDAY 20TH JULY, 2022 SHOOTING INCIDENT IN BIBIANI OF THE WESTERN NORTH REGION
We, the petitioners are the victims of the shooting incident which took place on the 20th July, 2022 at Bibiani.
NAME

Our case is that faithful day as mentioned above, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II the Omanhene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area who is also the President of the National House of Chiefs together with some chiefs and thugs conspired and shot one Ibrahim Adams (deceased) who died as a result of the gun shot, Kwame Krah, Kingsford Awere and Frank Yeboah who also sustained various gunshot wounds in their legs and underwent surgeries at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
All the other victims received treatment at the Bibiani Government hospital.
We humbly appeal to you as the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) for justice and also to act swiftly and bring the preparators to book.
We regret to report the conduct of the Police in the Western North Region who have blatantly refused to cause any serious investigation into the incident which happened in presence of the then Regional Police Commander and his officers.
We have respectfully enclosed videos on pendrive and pictures of Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, distributing guns and bullets to some thugs in his private residence at Bibiani situated Bibiani to Kumasi main road as evidence.
40 minutes after the thugs had been given the weapons by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the thugs started shooting indiscriminately into the crowd who we’re gathered along the portion of Bibiani to Kumasi motor road to register their agitation against Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II to pave way for stakeholder and consultative engagement between the mining company and Bibiani Community with regards to cooperate social responsibility, employment and other matters of importance before any rituals by the Traditional Authorities could be performed to ensure the smooth operation of the mining company.
We have attached pictures of the prime suspect by Name Isaac Oteng Krah who shot victims Kwame Krah and Ibrahim Adams now deceased as a result of the gun shot.
We will like to state that the Police have failed to perform their lawful duties because Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II used his position as the President of the National House of Chiefs to influence the case unduly.
Finally, we demand justice and reiterate that no one is above the law of the Republic of Ghana.
We hope our petition would receive the needed attention.
