Members of Friends of Bawumia—2008 Group (FoB’08 Foundation), a voluntary group dedicated to advancing the New Patriotic Party’s vision for a prosperous Ghana, have condemned the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for its attempted arrest of Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, when NIB officials reportedly surrounded the MP’s residence to detain him. This followed his recent claims about suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport, allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.
The attempted arrest of Reverend John Ntim Fordjour was described by FoB’08 as an assault on the values of accountability and honesty that the nation is striving for.
The ranking member of the Defense and Interior Committee is bold and committed to upholding Ghana’s integrity, according to FoB’08, and that is the kind of leadership it encourages.
The attempted arrest has raised concerns about political intimidation, especially toward opposition members who speak out on national issues. The NIB has yet to comment publicly on the matter.

As proud members of FoB’08, a voluntary group dedicated to advancing the New Patriotic Party’s vision for a prosperous Ghana, we’ve always stood for truth and accountability. So, when we saw Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the MP for Assin South, targeted for doing his job, our hearts sank and our resolve hardened. On April 9, 2025, operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), backed by so-called “macho men,” stormed Rev. Ntim’s residence, aiming to arrest him. His crime? Speaking out about two suspicious flights; AirMed Flight N823AM and a Cavok Air private jet that landed at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025. To us, FoB’08, this isn’t just an attack on one man; it’s a strike against the principles we fight for.
The Spark: Rev. Ntim’s Call for Truth
The fire started on April 1, 2025, when Rev. Ntim, as Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, took to the Minority Caucus press conference to raise the alarm. He pointed to two flights from Gran Canaria, Spain, a known hotspot for illicit activities. AirMed Flight N823AM, an air ambulance, landed on March 20, 2025 and stayed for five days with no record of a patient. The Cavok Air Antonov An-12B was equally questioned. Rev. Ntim, bold as ever, suggested these could be linked to drug trafficking or money laundering, calling for a full investigation. For FoB’08, this is the kind of leadership we rally behind; fearless, focused on protecting Ghana’s integrity.
President John Dramani Mahama responded, directing the Narcotics Control Commission and NIB to probe the flights and “expose any drug dealing.” He even invited Rev. Ntim to join the effort, touting Ghana’s anti-drug stance. We in FoB’08 felt a flicker of hope, thinking the government might align with our push for transparency.
The Storm: Intimidation at Rev. Ntim’s Door
That hope crumbled on April 9, when NIB operatives, flanked by muscle-bound enforcers, showed up at Rev. Ntim’s home to arrest him. Videos online captured the standoff: NIB at the gates, NPP bigwigs like Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong rushing to stand with Rev. Ntim, and a crowd of Minority MPs, Party Executives and Supporters refusing to back down. The NIB retreated after what was called a “de-escalation,” but the message was clear: question the wrong people, and you’ll pay
Rev. Ntim didn’t flinch. “The truth shall stand,” he declared words that echo the NPP’s commitment to justice and resonate deeply with FoB’08. He condemned the raid as an assault on his oversight role, contrasting it with the Akufo-Addo era when opposition MPs weren’t hounded for speaking out. For us, this was a wake-up call and a reminder that the fight for a better Ghana, one we’ve championed since forming FoB’08, is far from won.
The Fallout: Amplifying the Truth
Far from being intimidated, Rev. Ntim has turned the tables. He’s demanding Kwakye Ofosu’s resignation over inconsistencies in the government’s story about the flights. Fact-checks have exposed gaps, mismatched flight numbers, and vague explanations about AirMed’s activities that bolster Rev. Ntim’s case. As FoB’08, we’re proud to see him press on, backed by the Minority Caucus and a united NPP calling for a bipartisan probe. We want what they want: answers about whether Ghana’s airports are being exploited by criminals.
The government’s actions promising an investigation, and then sending NIB to Rev. Ntim’s door raise red flags for us. Was this about truth or control? We can’t help but wonder if this is the Ghana we’re working toward, one where oversight is punished instead of praised.
Looking Ahead: A Battle for Ghana’s Soul
Rev. Ntim’s stand is a defining moment for Ghana’s democracy, and FoB’08 is all in. Watching NPP leaders repel the NIB from his gate felt like a victory for the principles we hold dear; courage, accountability, and unity. But it also laid naked how fragile our institutions can be when power clashes with duty. Will Rev. Ntim’s allegations spark real change, or get buried in political games? Will the government rethink its approach, or dig in?
For now, Rev. Ntim remains a beacon, his call for truth aligning with FoB’08’s mission to build a Ghana where no one fears speaking out. The AirMed flight mystery lingers, a challenge to all of us to demand clarity. As we in FoB’08 watch this unfold, we’re reminded why we came together: to fight for a nation that listens, not one that lashes out. Rev. Ntim’s battle is ours, and we won’t rest until the truth stands tall.
