Ghanaian Businessman and philanthropist Dr. Joseph Badu Boateng alias Dada Joe has petitioned the Ghana Police Service and the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin, over an attempted murder on his life by Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, the Member of Parliament for Offinso North.
The incident, according to the petition, took place on April 18, 2025, during a peaceful health walk in Nkenkaasu, which was part of an Easter event aimed at promoting unity in the Offinso North Constituency.
Mr. Boateng, who organized the event, posits that he was alerted about transportation issues in Akumadan and drove there to assist.
On his way back, his vehicle was blocked by a white Toyota Hilux pick-up truck driven by one Daniel Opoku, popularly known as Opoku Ware, and was allegedly placed there on the instruction of the MP. After eventually getting past the obstruction, a series of gunshots were fired from the home of the Member of Parliament, with one shot striking the rear windshield of Mr. Boateng’s car. The shooter, Police Inspector Awuah Ernest, is said to be the bodyguard of Hon. Dr. Kyei Asamoah.
Eyewitnesses, including media personnel, believe Mr. Boateng was the intended target. The petition claims the shooting was a premeditated attack, orchestrated by the MP to harm him.
Mr. Boateng has called for an immediate investigation into the matter and for appropriate sanctions if the MP is found guilty. He has since submitted evidence, including photos and videos, to aid the investigation. The case has raised concerns about political violence, and the public is calling for justice.

P.O.BOX K416
EAST LEGON – ACCRA.
25TH APRIL, 2025.
THE RT. HON. SPEAKER OF
PARLIAMENT OF GHANA
OSU, ACCRA.
Dear Sir,
PETITION AGAINST HON. DR. FRED KYEI ASAMOAH (MP FOR OFFINSO NORTH CONSTITUENCY)
THE HUMBLE PETITION OF MR. JOSEPH BOATENG IS TO THE EXTENT:
1. That the petitioner is a Ghanaian and a native of Nkenkaasu in the Offinso North Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
2. That the person whom this petition is against is a Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency in the aforementioned region.
3. That the person whom this petition is against is still the incumbent Member of Parliament.
4. That there is prima facie evidence showing specific and premeditated dangerous actions engineered and executed by the Member of Parliament, which are very unparliamentary, undemocratic, pose a grave danger to life and property, as well as a threat to the peace and security of the Offinso North Constituency, the Ashanti Region, and the Nation at large.
5. That his actions should be probed and when found liable must suffer the appropriate sanctions as the laws of Ghana and the authority of Parliament permits.
6. That the petitioner shall avail himself and provide any information to the Speaker of Parliament or the Petitions Committee should they call on him to do so.
DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT THAT NEARLY COST MY LIFE:
1. As part of my initiative to foster peace, growth and unity among the youth and various communities within the Offinso North Constituency, I organized a three-day Easter event titled “Dada Joe Easter Gala and Concert.” On April 18, 2025, a peaceful health walk was held in Nkenkaasu as part of the scheduled activities.
2. During the walk, I received an urgent call from Akumadan informing me that participants there were facing transportation difficulties. In response, I immediately drove to Akumadan in a Dodge RAM, accompanied by a team of media personnel. My driver followed in a Lexus V8. Upon successfully arranging transportation for the Akumadan participants, we attempted to return. Due to the narrowness of the road, we were advised to use a wider turning space in a nearby suburb called Agric.
3. While turning at Agric, our path was obstructed by a white Toyota Hilux pick-up truck, which was allegedly instructed to block our way by the Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency, Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah. Upon several attempts to alert the driver of the Hilux by honking, we eventually managed to maneuver past the obstruction.
4. Moments later, a series of seven gunshots were fired into the air, followed by an eighth shot that targeted the driver from the rear of the Lexus V8, penetrating the windshield and the bullet is still lodged in the back seat of the car, which remains with the Akumadan Divisional Police Command. This shot was fired by Police Inspector Awuah Ernest, known to be the bodyguard of Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah. The incident happened in front of the residence of the Honorable Member of Parliament in his presence.
5. Based on intelligence gathered from eyewitnesses and individuals present at the scene, including multiple media personnel, it appears that I was the intended target of the shooting, as I am known to frequently drive that particular vehicle alone when visiting the constituency. Rt. Honourable, I strongly believe this was a premeditated act, carefully orchestrated by the Honourable Member of Parliament with the intent to take my life.
6. Given the gravity of this incident and the potential threat to my life, I respectfully request that your esteemed office initiate an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter. Several credible eyewitnesses, including his own neighbors, can provide testimony to support the investigation; however, they are currently fearful due to threats they have reportedly received.
WHEREFORE, I humbly pray as follows:
• That the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament institutes a probe into the conduct of Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah relative to the above-mentioned conduct.
• That the Honourable petitioned against be made to suffer the necessary punishment should he be found liable.
I am formally lodging this complaint to call for a full investigation into the unwarranted use of a firearm during what was intended to be a peaceful and unifying community event. Attached are copies of all relevant Photos and videos on a pendrive to assist this investigation.
