CLOSAG Threatens Industrial Action Over Delayed Salary Structure

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSAG) has warned of possible industrial action over the government’s continued failure to implement a unique salary structure for its members.Ghana travel guide

According to the association, efforts to secure the comprehensive salary structure date back to 2018, following extensive government scrutiny and the signing of memoranda of understanding in January 2022 and July 2024.

Deputy Executive Secretary William Kojo Karikari, speaking to the media on Friday, December 19, on behalf of Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, revealed that although the government shifted the implementation date from January 2023 to January 2025, the agreement remains unimplemented as of December 2025.

As a result, the association says it will not relent in its demand and is prepared to take further action to compel the government to honour its commitment.

“We implore the government to negotiate in good faith to forestall any impending action by staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.

“We will not relent in our efforts to reach our destination. It appears there is only one message the government understands, and CLOSAG is prepared to take that action,” he added.
