Ebo Noah Remanded For 2 Weeks As Court Orders Psychiatric Evaluation

The Adentan Circuit Court has remanded content creator and self-acclaimed prophet Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, into police custody for two week.

Ebo Noah has been charged with false communication, deliberately misleading the public, and publishing false news, offences the prosecution says are contrary to Ghana’s criminal laws.

The court’s decision follows growing public concern over the nature and impact of his recent online publications.

At the hearing, the court also directed that the accused be subjected to a psychiatric evaluation at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital to assess his mental state.

The evaluation is expected to assist the court in determining his fitness to stand trial as investigations continue.

The court adjourned the case to January 16, 2025, when the accused is expected to reappear.

The psychiatric report from Pantang Psychiatric Hospital is expected to be submitted before the next sitting.

Background to the case
The 33-year-old self-proclaimed prophet, real name, Evans Eshun, was arrested in Weija-Gbawe while live-streaming, he was remanded in custody for two weeks as authorities combat online disinformation.

He had gained attention with videos predicting a global flood starting December 25, 2025, later claiming God postponed it.

The case draws mixed reactions, from celebrations calling him a charlatan to concerns over free speech.

According to police sources, the accused allegedly presented the claims as prophetic revelations, prompting heightened anxiety among followers and social media users.

The Ghana Police Service subsequently arrested Ebo Noah as part of efforts to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain public order.
