At Newmont Ahafo plant site was an eye saw where Community members of Tutuka also called Dokyikrom a suburb of Ahafo Kenyasi in the Ahafo region, was beating miserable by police personnels for coming to demonstrate at the plant site.
According to the Committee Chairman Mr Yusif Dauda and the Chairman for Dokyikrom Unmarked Structures Owners Mr Kofi Adusei said the demonstration was due to Newmont Gold Ghana decision to resettlement some part of the Tutuka Community and leave the others upon EPA instructing them to resettlement the entire Community due to the adverse effect of their mining activities on the community.
They told the media that they have wrote a letter to the District Police Commander for approval to demonstrate but he keep on tossing them.
So they decided to demonstrate on their own and hence the crash with police. Community have vow to beat any Newmont personnel they come across as a revenge
However, Police has refused to respond to the allegations of brutality.
