A group of Ghanaian youth calling itself the Concerned Youth of Ashanti has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to take immediate past Minister of Sports and Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah back to the Sports Ministry or get him another challenging office in his administration.
According to the these youth in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Isaac Asiamah performed incredibly at the sports ministry to the admiration of all including the minority, National Democratic Congress(NDC) and that they were shocked the president replaced him with another person at the sports ministry while beginning his second term.
The Asante youth group contends that the remarkable performance of the Atwima Mponua MP which was highly appreciated by the youth in the country contributed to the NPP’s presidential victory in the 2020 elections.
The call to the president by the Concerned Youth of Ashanti is capitalized on President Nana Addo’s description of the former Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah as an “Excellent” minister.
On 31st August 2021, at the Sod- cutting ceremony for the construction of Sports infrastructure for Hosting and Organizing the 13th African Games Accra 2023, the President acknowledged the hard work of the Former Youth and Sports Minister, Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah MP for Atwima Mponua Constituency for bringing the tournament to Ghana for the first time in the history of Ghana.
The President in his speech at the event which was held at Borteyman on 31st August 2021 said “this has been possible for the excellent work done by the Ministry under the leadership of the former Minister Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah”.
But the Concerned Youth of Ashanti feels that if the President has someone who performs excellently, then such a person must have a place in his government to help the development of the country.
The youth made the call at a Press Conference.
