The GPRTU Chairman also a Government Appointee in the Akyem Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region, Hon Yaw Atua popularly called Chairman General has urged the Assembly Members and the Government Appointees across to stop taking money from the MMDCE Nominees before endorsing them.
According to him, the MMDCEs commence are to run an open administration where all views concerning development of the municipality and also responsible for the day to day performance of the executives
They are also to supervise Departments in the assembly and represent central government in the municipality
Non of the Appointees are to run the administration of his interest or on his benefits, they are to work hard in the interest of the municipality. So where from “pay before endorsement”
Let us not forget we the assembly members will go to them for items to our electoral areas.
Though article 243 under chapter twenty of the constitution, states that , ” there shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the president with the prior approval of not less than two – thirds majority of the members of the Assembly present and vote the meeting
The article did not mention of members taking money before confirming them, he said.
