Ashanti Region: Five Missing In River Offin Boat Capsize [Audio]

Spread the love

At least five people have been declared missing after their boat capsized on Friday (8 October) in the River Offin at New Achiase, a farming community in the Ashanti Region.

The five victims – all males – were part of nine passengers using a boat to cross to the adjoining community when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The district chief executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Isaac Kofi Marfo, was at the scene on Saturday as local divers intensified the search for the missing victims.

Traditional rulers performed ritual ceremonies at the scene on the banks of the Offin on Saturday praying for divine intervention.

Akosua Addai, 52, said that her son Akwasi Okyere is one of those missing and can only hope for positive news.
