Some residents of Ayimensa, Kweiman, Danfa and La Nkwantanang in the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, clashed with Police on Monday after the latter attempted to arrest the Member of Parliament for the area, Lawyer Francis Sosu during a demonstration.

This follows alleged “misconducts” by the protestors during the “Fix Our Roads” demonstration in the Madina Constituency. The MP and the youth decided to embark on the demonstration to press home their demand for better roads in the area.

The demonstration started from Damfa through Kweiman to the Ayi Mensah Toll both.

Addressing the youth, the MP for Madina, Lawyer Francs Sosu, said he had been invited by the Police but couldn’t  honour  the invitation  due to his “parliamentary schedule”. After the address, the Police attempted  to arrest the MP but the protesters  resisted.

The stalemate lasted for about 15 minutes but the MP managed to sneak into his car to evade arrest but the determined officers pursued him to his car .

Nonetheless, Lawyer Sosu further resisted the arrest and sped off to the admiration of his fellow protesters.

The Youth Chief of Damfa, one of the organizers of the protest was, however, arrested  after some errant protesters started burning tyres on the streets.
