Make December A Road Safety Month, Celebrate Christmas Alive – Ghanaians Told

Road safety campaigner, Kojo Aidoo-Appiah has appealed to Ghanaians to make this month of December a road safety month to help celebrate the Christmas alive.

He however expressed worry that many times around December, too many avoidable crashes occur leading to deaths and injuries on our highways.

In view of the persistent road crashes, the road safety man said he is drawing the attention of all stakeholders and the travelling public to uphold the road safety standards and procedures to keep everyone safe this Christmas season.

In his last campaign message for the year as part of his campaign series, Mr. Aidoo-Appiah advised road users to be careful not to spend the Christmas in the hospital due to a road crash, but at home in peace.

Kojo Aidoo-Appiah asked drivers to avoid wrong overtaking and overspending, drunk driving and recklessness on the road.

He asked them to maintain their vehicles regularly to help reduce vehicle breakdowns leading to crashes.

The road safety man asked road users to avoid the usual habit of getting over excited and disregard road safety during this occasion, saying, they should all
take part in the campaign to protect lives and property on the road this Yuletide.

He called on the institutions to play their role by enforcing the laws, removing all obstacles on the road to make sure the road is safe for all users.

“Be vigilant and competent to maintain sanity on the road and celebrate this Christmas alive”, he concluded.
