Atwima Mponua: Academic Work Under Threat At Bayerebon No3 Basic school As Pupils Study Under Trees

Bob Marley of blessed memory said in one of his songs that have knowledge through education, no one can take it away from you. It is often said that education makes a woman more beautiful and attractive and men more gentlemanly and respectable. Many countries lay great emphasis on education for the people. As a result class lessons throughout the world are held in rooms. This ensures sitting convenience, comfort, and total concentration when lessons are going on.

 

Teaching and learning at Bayerebon No3 Basic School in the Atwima Mponua District of the  Ashanti Region is under serious threat as the school conduct lessons under trees.

 

 

 

 

Atwima Watch visited to the school reports that pupils in and around Bayerebon No3  community have been feeling reluctant to attend school due to the dilapidated nature of their school building.

 

A few classrooms have limited desks for the pupils and those who do not always have to lay on their bellies to write during lesson hours.

 

 

 

 

Another serious challenge confronting the school is the lack of classroom furniture for both the pupils and teachers.

 

The Assemblyman for that area, Hon. Nkrumah Boateng says is affecting their quest for quality education.

 

He stated that academic work has always been destructed either by the scorching sun or rain.

 

 

 

 

 

“The current state of our school building has become a major source of worry for our parents and teachers. For us, the little ones, we are constantly agitated since we are unsure when the next round of rainfall will begin, so we are unable to concentrate on studies,” he explained.

 

 

 

 

 

According to his write-ups on social media platform, the District Assembly promised to build ultra modern one for them.

 

“I have been informed that the project has come to the district waiting for tender board to advertise for potential bidder for smooth start” Assemblyman added.

 

As at now, the pupils are study under trees.

 

Although the headteacher and others teachers of the school declined commenting on the matter for fear of being victimized.

 

In an interview with some residents of Bayerebon, they said, the situation is negatively affecting the performance of the pupils, and called on government to intervene.
