The man captured in a viral video violently assaulting a lady in the night somewhere in Cape Coast has been arrested by police.
The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday, March 6.
The lady was seen holding tightly on to the man’s shirt and complaining that he refused to pay for her services, having picked her up at Hutchland, a suburb of Cape Coast.
The video recorded was heard questioning the man about his violent assault on the lady, saying he kicked her in the head causing blood to ooze from her nostrils.
The man, whose name has been given as Godwin Bayor, is said to be a driver of a government vehicle.
“The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old driver, Godwin Bayor alias Yaw for allegedly assaulting a woman on March 6, 2022, at Cape Coast,” the police said in a statement on Sunday, March 13.
“His arrest follows a Police investigation into a viral audio-visual tape intercepted in which a man was captured assaulting a lady in the night.
“The victim subsequently lodged a complaint of assault at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Cape Coast, today Sunday, March 13, 2022.”
Mr Bayor, popularly known as Yaw, is currently in police custody assisting the investigation.
The police expressed appreciation to the public for volunteering information “in getting the suspect arrested to face justice”.
