Omanhene of Asante Juaben Nana Otuo Siriboe II has been re-elected as Chairman of the Council of State.
Nana Siriboe II, who was Chairman of the Council between 2017 and 2021, was re-elected at the maiden meeting of the 8th Council of State on Tuesday, February 23.
He served as a member of the Council between 2001 and 2009 during the presidency of John Agyekum Kufuor.
It is significant to note that Nana Siriboe II will be marking his 50th anniversary as Omanhene of Juaben this year.
He has a record of long service to the nation, having been a member of the Constituent Assembly of the 1979 and Consultative Assembly of 1992 which drafted the 1979 and 1992 Republican Constitutions respectively.
He is an Electrical Engineer by profession, graduating from the then University of Science and Technology in 1969.
In private life, Nana has been a farmer and an industrialist. In 2015, he was adjudged the best large scale oil pal farmer in Ghana.
His agro-processing company, Juaben Oil Mills Limited, with an employment capacity of about 400 people, is the largest indigenously owned oil palm processing facility in Ghana.
Nana once served on the board of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Council of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), which in 2003 awarded him an honorary Doctorate Degreee for outstanding leadership in traditional governance and contributions to agriculture and agro-industrial development.
At the Jubilee House on Tuesday, he expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in re-appointing most of the members.
“Not only does this promote continuity in the work of the Council, but also allows these retained members to share their experiences with their new colleagues to enable them contribute meaningfully to the work of the 8th Council of State.”
