The First Vice Chairman for the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Kwame Duodu, popularly called “Sir John,” has tasked the Royal Ann College of Health  (RACOH) Chapter and all members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy  (TESCON) across the country to sell the good policies and achievements of the NPP government to the electorates to enable the party win the 2024 general elections.

Sir John made the call in Kumasi on Thursday, March 23, 2023 during the maiden general meeting for freshers and continuing students of the Royal Ann College of Health (RACOH) Chapter of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) on the theme: ” Consolidating Students to Break the Eight.”

Speaking at the event, the Ashanti Regional TESCON Patron, who is also the RACOH TESCON Chief Patron, Hon. John Kwame Duodu, explained that the no-guarantor student loan policy and the restoration of the Teacher and Nursing Trainees allowance by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government had brought relief to the tertiary students and the citizens in the country.

He said that the “no-guarantor” policy is a nationalistic approach to strengthening Ghana’s tertiary education system and lessoning the burden of both students and parents.

Sir John noted that the NPP inherited an economy that could not even pay teacher and nursing training allowances, but with prudent management and vision, teacher and nursing training allowances were restored. “We also promised free senior high school education, and true to our promise, we have delivered’, he added

He stated further that, the achievements of the Akufo-Addo government in the education sector is unmatched in the history of the fourth republic, and the best way of bettering the future of the youth is by giving them quality education.

He continued that “planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, one constituency one ambulance, and 1D1F were all promises made by the Party ahead of the 2016 elections and have been fulfilled by the Akufo-Addo government.

” We promised to address graduate unemployment; the government set up the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO); one constituency, one ambulance, and many other promises made during the 2016 campaign, including the creation of six new Regions, have all been fulfilled.

He said “all these achievements should always be the mantra of the NPP youth going into the 2024 elections”.

This, he said, would convince a lot more people to vote for the Party’s next presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections.

According to Sir John, the good policies implemented by the NPP government, which the Ghanaian citizens are enjoying to a large extent, will influence their voting decisions in the 2024 elections, since no amount of money can buy the freedom and improved livelihoods the citizens are enjoying today.

He therefore impressed on all the chapters of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intensify their house-to-house campaigns to preach the good works of the government as well as sell the Party’s good policies to the masses to help the party break the eight.

“If you choose not to tell your good story, don’t be offended when someone else tells it because it would be told in a twisted manner,” Sir John reminded the TESCON members.

He also urged all members of the ruling New Patriotic Party to convince their NDC friends not to just follow their leaders blindly but rather accept early enough the NPP’s vision and mission to turn around the economic fortunes of this country, “so we can develop Ghana faster and better than their culture of branding everything NPP does as bad” “This practice is the reason for our slow growth as a country.” “No matter the effort put in by the NPP, it is always drawn back by this attitude of the NDC,” he added.

“I charge us all to help educate the lost souls under the blind, selfish leadership of the NDC and bring them home to where the interests of every Ghanaian matter, so we can leapfrog quickly without hesitation or the drawbacks of the power-drunk NDC leadership, he charged

Sir John dismissed claims by the NDC that the citizens are wallowing in hardship due to the bad economic policies of the NPP government, stating emphatically that “the condition of Ghanaians today is better than in the NDC’s regime and would have been worse if NDC were to be in power today”.

Comparing the eight years of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in power to the six and a half years of the NPP, he said the NPP has good policies that will develop the country, unlike the NDC and that voting for the NDC would mean sending the country’s growth in a retrogressive mode.

On these notes, the TESCON Chief Patron admonished all TESCON members across the country to get into action since  the party’s Election 2024 campaign had already commenced.
