No One Is A Saint To Us At The OSP – Kissi Agyebeng Tells Ghanaians

The Special Prosecutor Mr Kissi Agyebeng has said that as far as the work of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is concerned, no one is an angel to them when it comes to corruption.

He said the OSP will go after anyone suspected to have engaged in acts of corruption.

“At the end of the day if I weigh the evidence against you and I come to the conclusion that there is nothing then I let you go but in the middle of the investigations, I treat everyone the same.

“Mind you, at the Office of the Special Prosecutor we do not consecrate Saints. No one is a saint to us, no one is an angel as far as we are concerned. When we start investigating a case we are looking at everybody. You personally, as a member of the public may have your favorite, you may have those you think are so good and so consecrated saints that they become almost untouchable.

“I wish I were you to also have the luxury to consecrate some persons as saints in respect of which nothing should be done to them. But where I sit I do not have that luxury to treat people as saints and when saints are being consecrated I don’t get the MeMO,” he told Accra-based Joy FM Saturday, June 10 while speaking on the arrest of Former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.

 

 

 

Prof Frimpong-Boateng who is also a renowned heart surgeon was put under investigation following an invitation given to him by the Office weeks ago.

He was invited on corruption and corruption-related activities, particularly over his report on the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

He was also arrested for alleged involvement in the missing of some 500 excavators and the involvement Symphony Limited, the company owned by his son, in illegal mining.

He was immediately granted bail of GH¢2 million.
