The Spirit Of Dombo Will Curse NPP If We Settle On Bawumia As Our Next Flagbearer – Kwasi Korang

Mr. Kwasi Korang, a polling station chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sunyani West, has urged the delegates of the party not to make any mistake by electing the vice president, Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, as flagbearer ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to him, If the NPP’s delegates makes a mistake by electing Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer, his spirit cannot secure victory for the party.

He added that, his reasons for this assertion are very simple and not far-fetched.

In a statement sighted by MyGhanaMedia.com, he said, “The spirit of Dombo would never support Dr. Bawumia because it was Bawumia’s father who betrayed Dombo and joined the CPP for a Ministerial post. Today, Dr. Bawumia traces his roots to Dombo, whom his own father betrayed.”

If the NPP makes a mistake by electing Dr. Bawumia as its flag bearer, his spirit cannot secure victory for the party. My reasons for this assertion are very simple and not far-fetched. One of the spirits of Dombo would never support Dr. Bawumia because it was Bawumia’s father who betrayed Dombo and joined the CPP for a Ministerial post. Today, Dr. Bawumia traces his roots to Dombo, whom his own father betrayed.

In the 3rd Republic, his late father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, joined the PNP and fought against the PFP in the 1979 general elections, never returning to the UP tradition.

Three In the 4th Republic, Dr.Bawumia’s father, the late Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, did not join the NPP but went ahead and joined the NDC for the position of Chairman of the Council of State. Dr.Bawumia didn’t join the NPP from the heart but by inducement. Bawumia is not a founding member of the NPP.

For the past 16 years that Bawumia has been associated with the NPP, let us check this: how many of his family members are members of the NPP? They still identify with the NDC.

Five Dr.Bawumia’s late mother was a card-carrying member of the NDC party, despite the glory and honour that the NPP has given to her son as the second gentleman of the land.

Six Bawumia’s late mother was designated by the NDC as *Magajiya, and she remains the only one the NDC has conferred with that title, showing her prominence in the NDC. Why should the NPP make such an NDC person its flag bearer when there are several fully-blooded NPP members around?

Friends, let’s not throw our weight behind Dr. Bawumia, lest we kill loyalty and dedication in the party.
