Editor-in-Chief of the ABCNews (Newspaper) Godwin Asare-Bediako has advised President Akufo-Addo to sack Interior Minister Hon. Ambrose Dery for incompetence.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio monitored by MyNewsGh.com Wednesday, the journalist said Ambrose Dery has lost control of the Police service allowing a lot to go wrong under his watch.
According to the journalist, the only time you see or hear from the Interior Minister is when he announces new holidays to be observed.
“We have an Interior Minister who is only known for announcing public holidays. That’s the only time you hear him. I am telling you. He is only good at Announcing holidays. I will urge the President to relieve him of his post” he said.
The Wontumi Radio panelist said when Ambrose Dery is compared with “his younger brother at Defesne, you see a wide difference”.
He advised Akufo-Addo to take action before it is too late.
“If Akufo-Addo doesn’t take action, this would be the first time a ruling government will go into an election having the military but not the police service and it is all because of Ambrose Dery’s leadership.” He said.
About 7 months ago, the Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery was set to be demoted from his current post leading to him deploying top traditional rulers from his native Nandom and its environs to prevail on President Akufo-Addo not to reshuffle him.
At the time, the President released what was supposed to be a first batch of Ministers and was expected to undertake a full reshuffle which would have affected the Minister of Interior.
To date, Mr. Ambrose Dery is said to have fallen out of favor with President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and was set to be removed in 2021 but for a last-minute intervention.
