The renowned Chief of Obomeng, Nana Effah Opinaman III, led a delegation to fix up the crumbling Nkawkaw-Obomeng road in the Kwahu district of the Eastern Region in a spectacular display of leadership and community spirit.
The work being done was personally funded by the Chief, who also invested his time and energy into resolving the urgent problem of the road’s persistent potholes, according to an Agoo FM news report.
On September 26, 2023, Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr., the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu South, joined the Obomeng Chief and his elders, the neighborhood’s youngsters, Assembly members, and other individuals to fix the dreadful Road.
The Nkawkaw-Obomeng road has long been a source of worry for the surrounding community, especially for youths and drivers who have endured its terrible state for far too long. For both locals and visitors, daily traveling has become a difficult adventure due to potholes, fissures, and uneven surfaces.
Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III made the decision to set an example after seeing the urgent need for action. He funded the road repair work and supplied the necessary tools, water, cement, and chippings. Notably, the Chief, alongside the local youth, could be seen tirelessly mixing concrete and filling major potholes on the road.
Nana Effah Opinaman III used the opportunity to ask the government to step in and assure the full rehabilitation of the Nkawkaw-Obomeng road even though the work is still in progress and not yet finished.
He emphasized that the road’s condition is not only a matter of concern for the immediate community but also for the entire Kwahu community.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu South, Emmanuel Attah Ofori Senior, who also joined Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III on the ground, therefore applauded the Chief for his unselfish efforts in resolving the road’s problem and recognized the beneficial effects it has already had on the neighborhood.
However, MCE Emmanuel Attah Ofori Senior also took use of the occasion to address a sincere appeal to Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, the President of Ghana, and Akwasi Amoako Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways.
Recognizing the importance of the Nkawkaw-Obomeng Road to the locals and the surrounding area, he pleaded with them to complete the repairs and completion of the road as soon as possible.
