Nine schools have qualified for the Quarter Finals stage of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) on Day 1 of the one-eighth stage.
Wesley Girls Senior High School has gained back their seed as they won their contest with 54 points, shrugging off competition from Western Regional ladies, Archbishop Porter Girls’ who had 25 points and Ghanata SHS at 24 points at the end of the competition.
Bishop Herman College has also gained a slot in the quarter finals stage with 37 points. They competed against Adidome SHS and Ola SHS. Adidome SHS had 31 points and OLA SHS lost with 24 points.
Mpraeso SHS also won their contest with 43 points beating Ghana National College who finished with 39 points and Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS who lost with 25 points.
Achimota School has also secured a spot in the Quarter finals stage of the competition with the highest score of the day (66 points) after faccing off with Central Region’s Holy Child School who finished with 41 points and Assin State College who lost with 30 points.
Kumasi High School has also qualified for the Quarter finals stage. The all-boys school won the contest with 40 points beating Okuapemman School who finished with 36 points and Anlo SHS who lost with 34 points.
Osei Kyeretwie SHS has also maintained their ‘seed’ as they won their one-eighth contest. The Kumasi-based school won their contest with 49 points. They competed with St. Joseph Seminary SHS who finished with 29 points and Notre Dame Girls’ who ended with 27 points.
Ashanti Region’s sweethearts, St. Louis Senior High School has also gained back their ‘seed’ status with 53 points after competing with Central Region’s Adisadel College who has for the first time lost their ‘seed’ status finishing with 23 points and Abuakwa State College who lost with 19 points.
Wesley Grammar School gained a seed in the Quarter Finals stage after they answered the tie-breaker question to give them the much needed win with 33 points. They competed with Tema Methodist SHS who finished the contest with 31 points and Swedru Secondary School who lost with 28 points.
Anglican Senior High School won their contest with 40 points beating Adventist SHS, Bantama who finished with 39 points and St. Charles Minor Seminary who lost with 16 points.
