The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will mount platforms for candidates of the upcoming Nkoranza North and South District Level Elections.
The platform mounting will take off from Monday, 12th to Wednesday, 14th April 2021.
The EC indicated in a statement that the platform mounting “would be organized in each Electoral Area and unit where elections will be held.”
“The platform mounting will afford an opportunity for candidates of the District Level Elections to present themselves and their programmes to the Electorate. Each Candidate would be provided with a specific time frame to present his/her programme, after which the Electorate would ask questions on their qualifications and programmes,” the statement added.
Ghanaians have been advised to desist from slandering any candidate given that failure to substantiate any allegation may lead to legal action, while candidates and their supporters have been advised to desist from acts of violence, threats or intimidation aimed at inducing and compelling voters to vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate.
The EC also barred parties, organisations and group of persons from mounting a platform on behalf of any candidate.
The district-level election for assembly and unit committee members for the two districts has become necessary following the expiration of the term of office of the committee members of both districts.
The election is expected to come off on Friday, April 16, 2021.
