A stalwart of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Andrews Kwame Pianim, has denied being contacted by team Bawumia to serve as an advisor in the Vice President’s campaign team.
He says has no knowledge of any such development making him describe the offer as “fake news”.
He becomes the fourth person to decline membership to the Vice President’s campaign team after three persons including journalist Charles Osei Assibey, rapper Okyeame Kwame and Economist, Abena Amoah, declined the offer.
Journalist Charles Osei Assibey said he doesn’t want to join the campaign subcommittee to maintain his apolitical stance. He said he believes staying neutral and impartial in his current roles within the sporting community is important.
To serve on the Tourism and Culture subcommittee, Okyeame Kwame said he has not been formally appointed to take such a role.
Abena Amoah, CEO of the Ghana Stock Exchange, who was to serve as co-chair of the Economy subcommittee also issued a disclaimer saying she was not contacted and cannot be the person named on the committee.
On his part, Economist Kwame Pianim says the name on the list might be that of a different person, telling TV3’s Paa Kwesi Asare that, the said appointment is fake.
“I think it is fake news, nobody has talked to me, nobody has contacted me. I didn’t know when they were inaugurating it. Maybe it is not me, they mean somebody else but definitely, I have not been contacted,” Tuesday, March 05, 2024, on Business Focus.
