Include Disabilities To The Special Voting – Chief To Gove’t.

The Abusuapanin of Maaban in the Antwima Nwabiagya North district of the Ashanti Region, Nana Osei Antwi has calls on Government  to included “disabilities”  in this year special Voting to make life easier for them.

The EC in a statement said the special voting is reserved for voters who as a result of their duties on Election day and the special voting will cover only security personnel, media personnel and election officials.

According to Nana Osei Antwi, The right to vote is  critical to democracy and people with disabilities are often unble to cast their vote or stand for political election in their local institutions and they are

therefore excluded from political and social engagement and cannot fully exercise and enjoy their guaranteed rights.

He added that, Disability in Ghana has a massive amount of stigma; children or people who are born disabled or deformed are assumed to be possessed by evil spirits which is not good.

Incase if something bad happens in 7th December general elections at the polling station, where will this people run to, “he asked”

He therefore calls on Government and Electoral commission to include Disables to this year special voting in other to make life easier for them.
