The New Patriotic Party’s National Women Organiser, Mrs Kate Abena Gyamfuah has cautioned Member of Parliament for Atiwa West who double as Roads and Highways Minister Hon Akwasi Amoako Atta about his decision to construct all his hometown roads.
According to the women’s organiser, Hon Akwasi Amoako Atta has used the opportunity given him as Roads Minister to construct all the deplorable roads in his constituency leaving the other deplorable roads in the country behind.
She further stressed that the Hon Akwasi Amoako Atta is a nationwide minister not his hometown minister so should be guided by that. She said all the deplorable roads in the Minister’s constituency especially Kwabeng his hometown has been asphalted.
Speaking on Eastern Region based Ahenkan FM’s “Asem Yi Di Ka” show monitored by MyGhanaMedia.com, , Mrs Kate Gyamfuah said she is not against the minister’s decision but He should award the other deplorable roads in the country to contractors for the rest of the to benefit from the Akufo-Addo led administration
What triggers Mrs Kate Gyamfuah to comment on the work of the road minister is that, she was one day coming from kumasi to Accra, so she decided to pass by Anyinamu to Atiwa, there that she saw, the junction to Kwabeng has been constructed asphalt, according to her she called the road minister and warned him that if he refuses to construct the other roads in the country God will punish him.
Mrs Kate Gyamfuah emphasized that not every constituency will get road minister so if he has been given the mandate he should not be selective in discharging his duty.
“Tell Amoako Atta that he was not made Roads and Highways Minister because of roads in his Constituency. Look at the number of world class roads Amoako Attah is constructing in his hometown, Kwabeng and other communities. What have we done wrong in Akwatia and its environs to deserve these bad roads? If you are made road Minister, you must also look at other places to construct the roads,” She said on Akyem Oda-based Ahenkan FM.” I decided to use the Kwabeng road to Akwatia on my return from Kumasi. I was amazed by the road constructed from Anyinam junction to Kwabeng. They were even doing another asphalt overlay on it. I picked the phone to tell Amoako Atta that God will punish him if he doesn’t construct our roads in Denkyembuor”. she told the host Odi Ahenkan Kwame Yeboah.
