Residents of Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region and the District Chief Executive for Birim South District, Hon. Asare Danso, have refuted fabricated claims and articles on various media outlets regarding the construction of the Akyem Swedru to Apoli Beposo road, claiming that work has been suspended and contractors have left the site.

Being one of the main routes connecting the Ashanti and Eastern regions, the Akyem Swedru to Apoli Beposo road has long been a source of anxiety for residents of the Birim South district.

However, due to its poor condition, commuters and drivers have been concerned for a long time.

But because the contractors lacked the necessary preparation to build the road, the contracts were cancelled.

The project has just been awarded by the government to an entirely new construction company called “Maripoma Construction Company,” and work has resumed.

Recently, there have been several rumours and reports in various media outlets claiming that the contractor fixing the road has left the site, leaving the road abandoned once again.

Meanwhile; the DCE and the people living in Akyem Swedru have refuted these claims as fraudulent.

In a media statement, Hon. Asare Danso, the District Chief Executive for Birim South District, verified that construction is presently taking place on the Swedru to Apoli Beposo road.
The contractor has begun filling the road, and he has promised that the first bitumen surfacing will be completed swiftly.

Meanwhile, some residents and commuters of the road also spoke to the media and confirmed that there is ongoing road construction work on the Swedru to Apoli Beposo road.

They did, however, issue a warning, saying that they would abstain from voting in the election scheduled for December 7 if the work stoppage occurred again.
