2024 BECE: 3 Teachers And 2 Invigilators Have Been Arrested So Far [VIDEO]

The head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mrs. Wendy Enyonam Addy-Lamptey, has revealed that about three (3) teachers have been arrested in Obuasi and  Bekwai of the Ashanti Region for attempting to help students answer some questions during the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Two invigilators in the Bono Region have reportedly also been arrested for trying to help pupils answer some questions during the BECE.

 

According to her, teachers have been advised to refrain from teaching students in the examination halls.

She noted that this arrest is part of the measures put in place by WAEC to prevent all forms of examination malpractice.

Mrs. Wendy stated that the apprehended teachers are currently in police custody, and further details will be communicated to the public.

She urged the teachers and proprietors to leave the candidates alone to take their exams.

Meanwhile; WAEC’s Head of Corporate Affairs, John Kapi, stated that the apprehended teachers are currently in police custody.

According to him, further details will be communicated to the public.

“As we speak, we have also picked up two teachers from a centre in the Bono Region. They are teachers of some basic schools in the area who also had a link person who was taking some pictures from the examination hall and sending it to them to solve for the children. So they also have been handed to the police.”
