CLOGSAG Calls Off Strike

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its industrial action.

On July 3, CLOGSAG declared a nationwide strike with effect over the Government’s failure to implement a new salary structure for the Association’s members.

According to CLOGSAG, the new salary structure, which was agreed upon with the government, was due for implementation in January 2023 but had been delayed for one and a half years.

The Association, therefore, directed its members and secretariats across the country to stay away from work until further notice.

In a communique to Regional members on July 12, CLOGSAG directed its members to call off the strike.

According to the union, following a meeting with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the government has shown commitment towards resolving pertinent issues.

“The government acknowledged and committed itself to the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the 19th January, 2022, and gave an assurance that the process for finalisation of the Salary Structure would be completed by 31 October, 2024 and implemented with effect from 1st January, 2025,” portions of the communique read.

In this regard, the association has agreed to call of its strike.
