The Ghana National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has appointed Dr. Rosemond Wilson as the new head.

She takes over from Mrs. Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey, who has retired from the position.

The announcement was made in a statement released by WAEC in Accra on Wednesday, July 17.

The statement emphasised Dr. Wilson’s extensive experience and expertise in assessment, which she has gained over her 27-year tenure with WAEC, starting in September 1997.

Before her new appointment, Dr. Wilson served as the acting Head of the Test Development Division at WAEC.

Significant contributions to the development and administration of examinations have marked her leadership in this role.

Dr. Wilson’s professional journey began in the early 1990s as an Elective Mathematics tutor.

She taught at Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School and later at Tarkwa Senior High School, both located in the Western Region of Ghana.

Her experience as an educator laid a strong foundation for her subsequent roles at WAEC.

Over the years, she has been recognised for her dedication and commitment to improving educational assessment standards in the region.

As the new Head of the Ghana National Office of WAEC, Dr. Wilson is expected to bring her wealth of experience and expertise to further enhance the operations and effectiveness of the council.

Her appointment marks a new chapter for WAEC in its mission to maintain high standards in educational assessment across West Africa.
