Dr Bawumia was accompanied by his wife Samira Bawumia, his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and his wife Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh.

Party executives, including the National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Koduah Frimpong, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and other leading members of the NPP, are also at the EC to provide support and solidarity.

Bawumia is hoping to break the 8-year jinx to become Ghana’s next president, taking over from his boss, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

GUM’s Kwabena Andrews files nomination for presidential election

However, the General Secretary of the Ghana Union Movement(GUM) filed the nomination on behalf of their flagbearer Mr. Christian Kwabena Andrews.

This was after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia filed his nomination earlier in the day.

NDC’s  John Mahama  files nomination for presidential election

The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has officially filed the presidential nomination for the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama.

The submission took place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Electoral Commission’s office.

Speaking during the filing, he said, “We have brought with us a duly completed nomination form and let me commend you for making the forms available online so we did not have to come here to pick physically.”

The nomination forms, completed in quadruplicate as per legal requirements, were submitted along with necessary documents, including a tax clearance certificate and a declaration from the audit service in compliance with Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution.

The New Force’s Nana Kwame Bediako files nomination for presidential election

Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, also submitted his nomination at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) headquarters

Even though it is a requirement that all presidential nominees must have in their forms, a running mate, Cheddar filed his forms without a name.

Independent presidential aspirant Nana Kwame Bediako says Ghanaians should anticipate the unveiling of his running mate soon.

Even though it is a requirement that all presidential nominees must have in their forms, a running mate, Cheddar filed his forms without a name.

In an engagement with the press after submitting his nomination forms, Nana Kwame Bediako noted that his vice presidential candidate will soon be unmasked.

“I will [name my running mate] when the time is right. We always unveil and so don’t worry, when the mask comes off, you will see the name of the running mate,” he told the media.

APC’s Dr. Hassan Ayariga files nomination for presidential election

After filing his nomination, Dr. Hassan Ayariga reflected on his past experience, claiming vindication over the removal of former EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei.

He referenced his disqualification in the 2016 elections, attributing it to politically motivated inconsistencies in his signatures. Ayariga argued that signatures naturally vary and should not be grounds for disqualification.

Expressing confidence in the current EC, Dr. Ayariga stated, “This is someone who contested in 2012, filled the forms himself, and qualified.”

“In 2016, the disqualification was based on differences in signature and I wrote to Madam Charlotte then that signatories were not rubber stamps that you can have it perfectly, people are bound to make some curves in their signatory, and you cannot use that to disqualify people.”

“I was vindicated by my statement against her and that’s why she is not the EC Chair again and we have a new one. We are here to support any Commissioner to make sure that Ghana is a better place for us, and that we elect a free, fair and transparent president, this process should be fair, it’s already free and should be fair and transparent.”

LPG’s Kofi Akpaloo also filed his nomination

Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percival Kofi Akpaloo also filed his nomination.

He said, “I was vindicated by my statement against her, and that’s why she is no longer the EC Chair. We are here to support any Commissioner to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.”
Among others who also filed were;  Samuel Apea-Danquah of Yellow Ghana, and independent candidate George Twum Barima Adu.
