The executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atwima Mponua constituency have expressed their utmost dismay and outrage at the ignominious and violent conduct of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members on September 10, 2024, at Nyinahin D/A School Park.

In a statement obtained by MyGhanaMedia.com, the ceremony, which was meant to commemorate the unveiling and commissioning of earth-moving equipment under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), was nearly disrupted by NDC thugs led by their parliamentary candidate, Stephen Yeboah, and the Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

It asserted that the intention behind this despicable attack was to discredit the novelty of the project and jeopardize the tranquility that the NPP government has worked so hard to uphold.

“The gathering which was graced by respected Traditional Leaders, Media Professionals, Muslim Clerics, The Clergy, Opinion Leaders and Community Stakeholders witnessed an outrageous attempt by these political hooligans to forcefully disrupt proceedings causing property damage including a broken side glass in the grader. It is an ocular truth that the NDC’s agenda was one of destruction not dialogue”, the statement stated.

11th September, 2024.

IMMEDIATE CONDEMNATION OF POLITICAL THUGGERY IN ATWIMA MPONUA

The Party Chairman in the Atwima Mponua Constituency Hon Collins Addai, Hon. Seth Osei -Akoto (PC), DCE, The Leadership of the party, Elders and Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) express our deepest dismay and outrage at the disgraceful and violent conduct of members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on September 10,2024 at Nyinahin D/A school Park.

NDC thugs led by Stephen Yeboah, their Parliamentary Candidate and the Regional Secretary Dr. Frank Amoakohene nearly disrupted yesterday’s ceremony which was intended to celebrate the unveiling and commissioning of earth-moving equipment under the DRIP Project.

The purpose of this shameful attack was to discredit the novelty of the project and undermine the peaceful atmosphere that our party has worked so hard to maintain.

The gathering which was graced by respected Traditional Leaders, Media Professionals, Muslim Clerics, The Clergy, Opinion Leaders and Community Stakeholders witnessed an outrageous attempt by these political hooligans to forcefully disrupt proceedings causing property damage including a broken side glass in the grader.

It is an ocular truth that the NDC’s agenda was one of destruction not dialogue. A commissioning meeting for the NPP led government’s project raises serious questions about the NDC’s presence and motives.

What right do they have to disrupt a project that they played no role into forcibly mount a public address system and demand to speak at that event? This act of thuggery and recklessness is entirely in line with the toxic political blueprint laid out by them.

We, The NPP Faithfuls in Atwima Mponua and across the nation will not tolerate the actions of individuals attempting to impose fear and panic on our peaceful Constituency led by Stephen Yeboah and his crop of gangsters. We will resist any further attempts to destabilize our communities using lawful means.

The dishonourable Stephen Yeboah who took the fire tender of Atwima Mponua to Obuasi and never returned it since 2016 is the same individual who betrayed Honourable Theresah Adomako Tawiah for her unjustly removal from Office.

This dishonourable individual remains a dark chapter in Atwima Mponua’s history. We are by this statement calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the security agencies and all relevant authorities to immediately investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable.

We demand that; the law enforcement agencies beef up security in the Constituency to prevent further attacks as the NDC appears bent on sowing chaos and discord.

Let it be known that we The Members of the NPP are more than capable of defending ourselves and our communities. We will not be intimidated, should the NDC or any of its thugs attempt to carry another act of violence or disrespect in our Constituency, we will respond swiftly and firmly within the confines of the law to protect our people and our land.

This is a time for issue-based campaigning, not violence. We call on all political actors to focus on constructive dialogue and refrain from hooliganism. Let us put the interest of Atwima Mponua first rather than descend into lawlessness.

We stand United and strong, ready to defend the peace and progress of Atwima Mponua at all cost towards

7th December, 2024 victory.

God bless our homeland Ghana.

……Signed…….
