The three schools Mfantsipim School, Keta Senior High Technical and St Augustines College will face each other in what promises to be a fiercely contested finale.

Keta SHTS

For Keta Senior High Technical School formerly Keta Secondary School is a strong team having gradually registered its presence on the NSMQ stage in recent times.

Last year, Keta beat St Augustines College and Tamale Senior High to reach the semi-finals.

The school last reached the final of the NSMQ in 2021 making great impressions on viewers.

This year, the teamwork of Perpetual Sefakor Gakpetor, Clinton Edem Adorsoo, and Frederick Adjavor Sowalo propelled Keta SHTS to the Grand Finale and they are determined to take the title for the first time.

They have arrived at the finals having beaten heavy weights like Achimota school.

But it will not be without a fight from the Mfantsipim School and St Augustines College both of who have tasted victory before.

St Augustines College

St. Augustine’s College is hungry for a title as they last clinched the prestigious trophy in 2019.

They are a team to watch as they have never reached the finals without going home with the title.
For all the two final appearances, they went home as winners the last being in 2019.

It is obvious that the St Augustines team this year is on fire.

They have on their journey to the final beat schools like Wesley Girls, Ghana National College, Bishop Herman and St Hubert to reach the final.

Mfantsipim School

Mfantsipim School cannot be underestimated either having beaten the reigning indefatigable champions, Presbyterian Boys, sending the home in the semi finals.

Mfantsipim is definitely a team to watch.

The spirit of the “only school” in Ghana to win the coveted title is high.

They need the title to quench the 10-year-old title thirst of a title.

History of NSMQ

The NSMQ, launched in 1993 by Primetime Limited, has grown into Ghana’s most celebrated academic competition, aimed at inspiring interest in science and maths among senior high school students.

Starting as a televised quiz contest in Accra, the NSMQ quickly became a national favourite for its challenging questions and thrilling matchups between top schools.

Over the years, it has encouraged academic excellence and inspired students to pursue STEM careers, fostering friendly rivalries and strong alumni support across the country.

This year, a record-breaking 157 schools are competing, with 126 battling it out in the preliminary stage.

In a historic move, the 2024 competition has shifted to Cape Coast, a city known for its longstanding educational legacy.
