CLOGSAG Calls Off Strike

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its strike action which started November 7.

This comes after the National Labour Commission (NLC) secured an order from the Accra High Court against the industrial action.

In a statement, CLOGSAG has directed its members to return to work while negotiations to secure better conditions of service continue.

“Being a law-abiding association, CLOGSAG has taken into consideration the injunction order. CLOGSAG hereby calls off the strike with immediate effect. CLOGSAG has decided to call off the strike due to its utmost respect for the court and the laws of Ghana.

“All members are entreated to report to work. CLOGSAG assures members of its unrelenting efforts to ensure better conditions of service for all,” the statement noted.

The strike action was in line with the expiration of an October 31 deadline for the government to meet their demands.

In a statement, CLOGSAG said that despite multiple meetings since then, the government has yet to make a concrete offer.

However, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission countered, insisting that CLOGSAG has yet to respond to the government’s offer regarding the new salary structure presented to the association.
