FORMER PREZ KUFFOUR DESERVES COMMENDATION NOT CONDEMNATION – PYA
We the executives and entire members of Patriotic Youth Alliance strongly condemn the recent inflammatory and disrespectful remarks made by One Dela Edem of NDC against former President John Agyekum Kufuor. It is with a deep sense of regret that we witness such an attack on the integrity and legacy of a man who has served this nation with unparalleled dedication and distinction.
Former President Kufuor’s contribution to the development of Ghana, both in terms of governance, Infrastructure, Social Interventions and international standing, is indisputable. Under his leadership, Ghana witnessed significant economic growth, infrastructural development, and a strengthening of democratic institutions. His stewardship paved the way for Ghana’s modern political and economic landscape, and he remains a symbol of decency, hope and statesmanship for our beloved country.
To attack such a respected figure is not only an insult to the former President but also an affront to the values of civility, respect, and constructive discourse that our democracy relies upon. Political differences are natural in any democracy, but personal attacks and disrespectful behavior have no place in our political culture. We urge all Ghanaians, and particularly politicians, to engage in constructive dialogue and avoid resorting to divisive and derogatory rhetoric.
Dela Edem’s comments not only undermine the fabric of national unity but also tarnish his own credibility and former President John Mahama. Instead of engaging in character assassination, we call on him to focus on substantive contributions to the political discourse that will foster progress and unity in Ghana.
Following the example set by their flag bearer, John Mahama, who has been observed using abusive language during these campaigns, we urge all CEOs, religious leaders, chiefs, and opinion leaders to condemn these insults directed at noble individuals, respected figures, and esteemed institutions.
We stand in unwavering support of former President Kufuor, whose legacy continues to inspire millions of Ghanaians and people around the world. We call for a return to respectful dialogue, where differences are debated with dignity and the focus remains on policies that will uplift our nation.
We urge the public to reject hate-filled rhetoric and to stand firmly in defense of the values that have helped Ghana become a beacon of democracy in Africa.
