SheSpeaksNPP: A New Vision For Women’s Political Participation To Be Launched

SheSpeaksNPP, a soon-to-be-launched political volunteer group spearheaded by Irene Hattoh, a communication team member in the Kpone katamanso constituency, aims to revolutionize women’s participation and influence within Ghana’s political sphere. Operating under the tagline “Empowering voices, shaping the future,” the group seeks to amplify the voices of women, recognizing their significant presence and potential contribution beyond simply casting votes.

The initiative directly addresses the underrepresentation of women in Ghanaian politics, acknowledging that women comprise over 50% of the population and, therefore, should not only be voters but also active influencers and leaders. SheSpeaksNPP firmly believes that incorporating diverse female perspectives is crucial for shaping the direction of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and, by extension, the nation.

SheSpeaksNPP is designed as a flagship initiative to specifically empower young Ghanaian women across diverse fields – business, education, and more – who share the NPP’s vision for a prosperous Ghana. The group plans to achieve this by providing women with the communication skills and platform to actively participate in political discourse and decision-making processes.

Deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture, SheSpeaksNPP incorporates traditional Adinkra symbols into its branding, signifying enduring values and creating a powerful visual connection with the nation’s heritage. The group’s symbol, rendered in the NPP’s signature blue, white, and red colours (representing unity, purity of purpose, and passion for progress), cleverly incorporates several Adinkra symbols:

Nkyinkyim Symbolizes initiative, dynamism, and versatility. Eban represents safety, love, and security whilst Duafe (wooden comb) sigmifies beauty, hygiene, and quintessential female qualities.

This unique combination of cultural symbolism and political engagement represents a bold, unprecedented approach to women’s empowerment within Ghana’s political landscape. By harnessing the symbolic power of Adinkra and the strength of women’s voices, SheSpeaksNPP aims to transform the political discourse in a way never seen before in Ghana, promoting greater inclusion, diverse perspectives, and effective political communication. The group’s launch is highly anticipated, promising a significant shift in how women are involved in shaping Ghana’s political future.
