A Ghanaian media personality, journalist, and entrepreneur, Afua Owusu Asantewaa Aduonum, better known as Afua Asantewaa, has begun her second attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

The event, which kicked off at 12:00 AM on Saturday, December 21st, at the Kumasi Heroes Park, will see Afua Asantewaa sing non-stop until Christmas Day, December 25th.

Afua Asantewaa’s determination to break the record is evident, and she is confident that her second attempt will be successful.

Her first attempt in 2023, although valiant, unfortunately didn’t yield the desired outcome.

Undeterred, Afua Asantewaa has spent the past year preparing and perfecting her craft, and she is now more determined than ever to achieve her goal.

The event is expected to attract music lovers and fans from across the country, all cheering her on to break the record.

Afua Asantewaa’s second attempt is a testament to her perseverance and passion for music.

Sing-a-thon: Guinness World Record disqualifies Afua Asantewaa’s record attempt

Afua Asantewaa completed her first singing marathon at 126 hours and 52 minutes on December 29, 2023 aiming to break the current record by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian who sang for 105 hours in 2012.

Afua further submitted evidence of her singing attempt to Guinness World Records on January 6, 2024.

The Guinness World Records (GWR) responded to Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

In a tweet responding to a comment enquiring about her attempt, the GWR said “unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.”

The GWR also noted that the evidence check already begun before Afua requested priority service hence her earlier payment has been refunded.

“We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts,” the GWR noted in a tweet on February 23.
