NIA Receives 700,000 Blank Cards To Clear Backlog

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the receipt of 700,000 blank Ghana Card stock on Monday, February 17, 2025, following weeks of negotiations led by Acting Executive Secretary Wisdom Kwaku Deku and its technical partners.

These blank cards will be used to process pending applications, including first-time issuances, card replacements, and personal information updates that have been delayed since 2023.

To expedite the printing and distribution process, the Acting Executive Secretary has set up a technical team to oversee operations and ensure the timely issuance of cards at district offices.

This initiative aligns with the government’s objective of providing all Ghanaians aged 15 and above with Ghana Cards for identification and verification.

In a statement issued on February 18, the NIA assured the public that they will be notified once card issuance begins at district offices nationwide.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to efficiency and transparency in carrying out its mandate for the benefit of the nation.
